Fade In:
opening sequence
(The film will open on the national lottery film production company logo which will then straight cut into a landscape pan shot of the Sidmouth town at night with diegetic sound of seagulls and everyday/nighttime seaside sounds. This diegetic sound continues into a black screen with the words ‘A British Film’ to set off the film as following the gritty realism genre. This shot then changes to the main character ‘Chris’ walking along the seafront at night in a POV shot. This shot will then cut to the title screen displaying the name of the film ‘Sane’ which will be full of intensity. This will massively contrast to the calmness of the previous scene to show the character’s lack of mental stability. This will then cut to an over the shoulder, handheld shot of the character on his phone and putting on his earphones. As he puts in his earphones the non-diegetic sound of a soft acoustic guitar will play. Then ‘Chris’ will be sat on the sea wall with his earphones in before getting up to walk along the promenade with phone in pocket, earphones in and the diegetic sound will continue, different angles of this will be seen. ‘Chris’’ phone will then ring showing it’s his mother)
Chris
oh fuck off
(Sarah is seen on the phone trying to call Chris)
Chris’ mum (sarah)
Pick up Chris, pick up
(we then see Chris hearing a voice (his alter personality))
Chris mark 2
Does she ever leave you alone?
Chris
She’s just worried about me.
Chris Mark 2
Worried about you, or clingy? Seems a bit desperate to me?
Chris
She’s not desperate! She’s only trying to help!
Chris Mark 2
God you’re so naïve
Chris
NO IM NOT!
Chris mark 2
Prove it.
(Chris looks at phone and throws it away in a violent manner he then stand up. We see him run in a stressed way across the sea front and across town. We then see the character of Chris walking into his house. The scene of his bedroom is then established and he is then seen taking his coat and boots off and the persona is seen on his bed)
Chris
Oh for god’s sake!
(Chris then goes into the bathroom and brushes his teeth seeing the persona in the mirror looking at him, Chris looks up, sees him and sighs then residing to his bedroom. We see him get into bed before the shot changes to a similar position but in the morning, which is evident from the sunlight coming from the window. The character’s mother will be seen coming into the room, remaining in the doorway.)
